December 2023 Year-End-Review

Dr. Kerwin Scott, Co-Founder

Happy Anniversary, Education Equalizers!

We are celebrating our second year by sharing the growth and opportunities at The Education Equalizer Foundation.

We doubled our number of Education Equalizer Scholars this year while increasing opportunities and programs for middle to high school students. Our collaborations included the City of Gainesville, One Nation One Project, the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, the FAMU National Alumni Association of Gainesville, Greater Bethel AME Church, Florida College Access Network, Project Youthbuild, and many organizations dedicated to helping underserved students access college.

Our Education Equalizer Scholars

The Education Equalizer Foundation College PASS Cohort

We began the summer with generous donations from The Amazing Give powered by The Philanthropy Hub and the North Central Florida Community Foundation.

Our College PASS mentees have received college admittance into some of their top-choice schools. The College PASS program is an in-person mentorship with opportunities to network with area professionals, college tours, college, financial aid application assistance, and much more!

Thus far, 90% of our scholars have already received acceptances to some of the nation’s premier colleges:

Alabama A&M University
Benedict College
Bethune-Cookman University
Clark Atlanta University
Edward Waters University
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
Florida Memorial University
Hampton University
Illinois Wesleyan
Jacksonville University
Jackson State University
Miami Dade University
Millikan University
Norfolk State
Nova Southeastern University
Presbyterian College
Shaw University
South Carolina State University

More acceptances are coming soon. We will celebrate our scholars during the Million Dollar Scholar Brunch. Save the date for Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m.

EEF ONOP Oratorical Competition

The Education Equalizer Foundation oratorical competition funded by One Nation One Project was a powerful platform where young voices resounded with passion, addressing the issue of gun violence. Held at Greater Bethel AME Church on Saturday, August 26, 2023, this event combined expressive performances, heartfelt speeches, and profound essays to inspire unity and community engagement. Participants showcased their talents through expressive song and dance performances, but the heart of the event lay in the oratorical competition. One unforgettable moment was a student conquering anxiety to deliver a moving speech, symbolizing the courage and determination the event aimed to foster.
