GAINESVILLE, FL (EEF News): The Education Equalizer Foundation (EEF) and the FAMU National Alumni Association Alachua County are thrilled to announce that students from Eustis High School and Leesburg High School in Lake County will be joining us for an exciting opportunity: the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Preview Day. This tour marks the beginning of EEF’s expansion into Lake County, allowing more students access to resources that help them prepare for and succeed in college.

FAMU, recognized as the #1 Public Historically Black College and University (HBCU), continues to attract some of the nation’s brightest minds. For the 2024 fall school year, Alachua County is celebrating a record number of students committing to FAMU—joining the largest class from this area in a single calendar year. EEF is proud to be part of the journey that brings Lake and Alachua County students to such a prestigious institution.

The Journey to FAMU with EEF

Visiting FAMU with EEF offers a holistic experience that goes beyond a standard campus tour. Here’s what students can expect from this unforgettable opportunity:

  1. FAMU National Alumni Association Alachua County Chapter President Students will explore FAMU’s campus, attend informational sessions, and engage with faculty and staff. They will also get a feel for student life and learn about academic programs and opportunities unique to FAMU under the guidance of the President of the FAMU National Alumni Association Alachua County.
  2. Lunch with EEF Alumni One of the highlights of the trip is the opportunity to have lunch with past EEF scholars currently attending FAMU. This interaction will allow students to hear firsthand experiences about the transition to college life, gain insights on navigating campus, and learn how EEF has continued to support them.
  3. Bus Ride Fellowship During the bus ride to FAMU, students will connect with others who share an interest in the university. This fellowship offers a space to build relationships, share excitement about the college journey, and begin forging friendships that may continue into their time at FAMU.
  4. Football Game vs. Alabama A&M As part of the tour, students will have the opportunity to attend the highly anticipated football game between FAMU and Alabama A&M. Experiencing the spirited Rattler community firsthand will immerse students in the rich culture and traditions that make FAMU unique.
  5. College Application Assistance EEF goes beyond just introducing students to FAMU. We will provide on-site assistance with submitting applications to FAMU and any other colleges of interest. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels confident in their college application process and has the support they need to succeed.
  6. Lifelong Mentorship Students who attend the FAMU tour will not only receive guidance from EEF but will also gain access to lifelong mentorship from both EEF and the University of Florida’s (UF) Bridges Program. This mentorship will provide students with continued support through college and beyond, ensuring they have the resources to thrive academically and professionally.

This trip to FAMU is just the beginning. EEF will continue to provide academic coaching, scholarship guidance, and mentorship to help students achieve their dreams of higher education and lifelong success.
