GAINESVILLE, FL (EEF News): The Education Equalizer Foundation’s College PASS cohort III participated in an ACT/SAT mock test. This program provided students with an opportunity to experience a full-length practice test and individual test score results with a comprehensive detailed report to guide them along their study journey. The event was a resounding success thanks to EEF’s Test Prep Coach, Dani Hobson, and University of Florida intern Felecia DeQuiros.
After completing the mock test, each scholar received a comprehensive, customized report detailing their performance in each test section. This personalized feedback helped them identify areas of strength and weakness, offering targeted strategies for improvement.
Dani Hobson, who facilitated the session and hosts monthly test prep for EEF highlighted the impact of such personalized test preparation. “We’ve seen an increase of 1 to up to 11 points for some of our scholars,” Hobson noted. This level of improvement can be life-changing, as it directly impacts scholarship opportunities, including Florida’s Bright Futures program, which offers 75% to 100% tuition coverage at Florida public universities like FAMU, UF, and FSU.
For many students, particularly first-generation college students, the ACT/SAT can be a daunting hurdle. As one parent remarked, “My child and I are extremely excited for what’s to come and some of the great experiences that have happened for her. We love the guidance and resources that are being provided for both of us. She’s highly motivated about college and thank you for easing some of the worries for a first-generation college student.”

In addition to the mock test, EEF hosts monthly ACT and SAT test prep sessions designed to help students increase their scores. These two-hour virtual study sessions, which include interactive test reviews, are offered at an affordable rate of just $75. Compared to other tutoring services that can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, EEF’s program is a valuable and accessible resource for families. As one student noted, “Keep doing ACT/SAT help and practices, I saw my score increase by 11 points!” Another added, “The cram course was extremely helpful.”
First-time test-takers also benefited from the mock test experience. “It was good to learn about the tests and what they consist of because I am a first-time taker, so I’ll be going into this kind of blind,” shared a student. “Overall, the meeting was very helpful, and I took some good notes, so I appreciated it.”
The success of this mock test underscores EEF’s commitment to leveling the playing field for students aiming to attend college. By providing affordable, high-quality test preparation, EEF helps scholars achieve scores that open doors to scholarships and educational opportunities. Through ongoing support, EEF continues to empower students to realize their full potential and pursue their college dreams.
