Celebrating HBCU Week: Partnership with EEF and the Common Black College Application

GAINESVILLE, FL (EEF News): HBCU Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in empowering generations of students. A shining example of this legacy is the collaboration between The Education Equalizer Foundation (EEF) and the Common Black College Application (CBCA). This partnership has opened doors to higher education for countless students, resulting in thousands of scholarships and multiple acceptances to HBCUs.

Robert Mason, CEO and Founder of CBCA highlighted the impact of their work: “There have been thousands of students that have received millions of dollars in college scholarships and dozens of acceptances to HBCUs from using the Common Black College Application.” Through this powerful tool, students can apply to over 65 member institutions, breaking down barriers and streamlining the admissions process for students aspiring to attend HBCUs.

The Education Equalizer Foundation committed to helping students navigate the path to college, has taken this mission further by partnering with CBCA to ensure that students are not only accepted into college but also supported throughout their academic journey. EEF focuses on helping middle and high school students prepare for college by offering guidance on the admissions process, financial aid, scholarships, and building a strong application profile.

“Tennessee State University had a record enrollment of first-time freshmen last year; many students admitted completed the Common Black College Application,” noted Dr. Carjie Scott, Co-Founder of EEF and Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation at Tennessee State University. “I am excited to partner with Mr. Mason to help more students access higher education through CBCA.”

The need for this initiative is clear. Many students require support in navigating the complexities of college preparation, including understanding how to select the right college, completing applications, and securing financial aid. Through workshops, college tours, test preparation, and personalized counseling, EEF equips students with the tools they need to succeed in their college journey.

By collaborating, EEF and CBCA are working to ensure that students are not only allowed to attend college but are also well-prepared for the demands of higher education. Their partnership represents a commitment to helping students from middle school through high school explore college options and make informed decisions that align with their academic and career goals.

This HBCU Week, as we celebrate the achievements of these historic institutions, the partnership between The Education Equalizer Foundation and the Common Black College Application serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts to empower the next generation of Black scholars. Together, they are transforming the landscape of college admissions, ensuring that more students have the support and resources to reach their educational aspirations.
