Gainesville, FL (EEF News) — The Education Equalizer Foundation is proud to welcome two exceptional leaders to our Board of Directors: Dr. Kenneth “Ken” Carter, who joins as a General Board Member, and Ms. Keliy Fordham, who will serve as our new Treasurer. Both bring a wealth of expertise, lived experience, and a deep commitment to advancing college access and success for underrepresented students—aligning perfectly with EEF’s mission as a one-stop shop for college preparation, scholarship coaching, and long-term student support.
Introducing Dr. Kenneth Carter — General Board Member
Dr. Ken Carter is a nationally recognized orthodontist, researcher, and mentor whose leadership spans dentistry, education, and community advancement. Currently a Co-Owner and Orthodontist at RRC Orthodontics, Dr. Carter’s impact extends far beyond the clinic. His academic journey includes earning a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College, where he distinguished himself with multiple honors and scholarships.
Dr. Carter is also deeply engaged in professional service and mentorship, serving as:
- Co-Founder of the Orthodontic Black Caucus
- Committee Member for the American Board of Orthodontics Standard Setting Committee
- Guest Lecturer, Panelist, and Moderator for national organizations including AAO and Student National Dental Association
- Dedicated mentor for youth and pre-dental pipeline programs
His leadership footprint reflects a passion for expanding pathways into healthcare careers, making him an invaluable addition as EEF continues strengthening our college-to-career readiness initiatives.
Introducing Ms. Keliy Fordham — Treasurer
Ms. Keliy Fordham brings an exceptional blend of clinical expertise, financial acumen, and academic scholarship to her role as Treasurer. A highly accomplished registered nurse with 7.5 years of acute care experience, Ms. Fordham is currently a 4th-year Ph.D. nursing student at the University of Florida, where her research focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence into neonatal healthcare.
Ms. Fordham’s background includes:
- Extensive experience in neonatal intensive care, labor & delivery support, and interdisciplinary care
- A track record of scholarly research, national conference presentations, and published work in professional nursing journals
- Leadership roles in nonprofit finance, ministry, and community-based organizations
- Business ownership with real-world experience in accounting, tax filings, and financial reporting
Ms. Fordham’s combination of fiscal responsibility, data-driven insights, and authentic care for families and young people will strengthen EEF’s financial stewardship and long-term sustainability.
