EEF Team Attends NCAN Leadership Summit to Advance Student Success and College Access

Gainesville, FL (EEF News) — At The Education Equalizer Foundation, we believe that creating opportunities for students requires continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. That commitment was on full display on April 7 as members of our team attended the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) Leadership Summit.

The summit brought together educators, nonprofit leaders, policymakers, college access professionals, and students from across the nation to discuss strategies for increasing college access, improving student success outcomes, and expanding scholarship opportunities for students from all backgrounds.

Representing EEF were Board Member Lexley Shelton and Board Treasurer Keliy Fordham, who participated in workshops, networking sessions, and leadership discussions focused on the future of college access and student achievement. Throughout the summit, they engaged with national leaders and practitioners who are working to remove barriers to higher education and create pathways for student success.

The experience provided an opportunity to learn about emerging trends, innovative programs, and proven practices that can strengthen EEF’s work in supporting students throughout their educational journeys. From college readiness initiatives to scholarship attainment strategies, the summit offered valuable insights that will help guide future programming and services.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the event was the participation of two EEF alumni scholars: Caleb Little of Florida A&M University and Bethany Anderson of Washington University in St. Louis.

As former EEF students and current college scholars, Caleb and Bethany were able to experience national conversations about higher education from a unique perspective. Their presence served as a powerful reminder of the impact that college access programs can have on students long after high school graduation.

For Caleb and Bethany, the summit provided firsthand exposure to educational leadership, advocacy, and policy discussions that are shaping the future of higher education. It also allowed them to connect with professionals and peers who share a commitment to educational equity and student success.

Their participation reflects one of EEF’s core goals: not only helping students gain admission to college but also preparing them to become leaders, advocates, and changemakers in their communities and beyond.

The NCAN Leadership Summit reinforced the importance of collaboration in creating meaningful educational opportunities. No single organization can do this work alone. By learning from experts across the country, building strategic partnerships, and elevating student voices, EEF continues to strengthen its ability to serve students and families throughout our communities.

As we look ahead, we are excited to implement new ideas, deepen existing partnerships, and continue expanding opportunities for the students we serve.

We are grateful to Lexley Shelton, Keliy Fordham, Caleb Little, and Bethany Anderson for representing The Education Equalizer Foundation so well at this important national gathering. Their participation reflects our ongoing commitment to educational excellence, college access, and student success.

Together, we are building brighter futures—one student, one opportunity, and one success story at a time.
