Dr. Tarcha Rentz, Education Entrepreneur, says its time to celebrate the grace, culture, and civic involvement of our young people on ‘College Talk’

GAINESVILLE, FL. (EEF News) – Dr. Tarcha Rentz is an educator, speaker, educational consultant, and entrepreneur. She began teaching at Ft. Clarke Middle School in Gainesville, Florida in 1996 until 2001 when she began doctoral studies in special education at the University of Florida.  There she worked as a graduate assistant in East Alachua County schools studying reading disabilities and teacher preparation.  From that experience and a breast cancer diagnosis, Tarcha’s focus shifted to African American teachers’ perceptions of special education referral and the importance of mentoring black students in higher education. 

After completing her doctorate, Tarcha started TR & Associates, providing educational consulting to underserved communities and first-generation college students.  In 2009, she returned to school to complete a Specialist in Educational Leadership and Policy at Florida State University.  Dr. Rentz served as the College Reach Out Program Coordinator at Santa Fe College from 2012 -2014. In 2016, Dr. Rentz became the inaugural director of Howard Bishop Middle School, A Community Partnership School.  Since 2020, she has served as the inaugural President of the Eastside High School Alumni Association. 

Currently, she is a Technical Assistance Manager at the University of Central Florida Center for Community Schools.  Dr. Rentz is a mother of 2 high schoolers and the wife of 25 years to Florida A & M University alumnus, Ishmael Rentz.
