GAINESVILLE, FL. (EEF News) Attending college can seem daunting and overwhelming for many high school students. With the cost of tuition on the rise and the competitive nature of college admissions, it’s no wonder that students often feel unsure of where to turn for guidance. This is where CPASS comes in – a new program to provide rising juniors and seniors with the support and resources they need to succeed in college and beyond.
Originally known as College Prep 101, CPASS has transformed into a year-long college preparation, access, and student success program for students in their junior and senior high school years. The program’s new name reflects its expanded scope, which prepares students for college and helps them access and succeed in higher education.

The CPASS program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive approach to college preparation and success. Throughout the year, students can grow their network to include college graduates, current college students, and professionals in the career fields they are interested in. The CPASS program provides guidance and support in various areas, including college applications, financial aid, and academic success strategies.

In addition, CPASS offers various workshops and resources to help students achieve their goals. These include college tours, SAT/ACT prep, and financial literacy workshops. The program also provides students access to customized resources, such as the Common Black College Application, the Coalition Application, Slate by Technolutions, HBCU Hub, and the FinAide Application.
One of the unique aspects of CPASS is its focus on building community. Through regular meetings and events, students can connect with their peers and form relationships with others who share their goals and aspirations. This sense of community can be particularly important for students who may be the first in their families to attend college or come from underrepresented backgrounds.

The benefits of participating in CPASS are clear. By providing students with a network, resources, and a sense of community beyond college admittance, the program helps to ensure that students are prepared for the challenges of college and have the tools they need to succeed. And by starting the program in the junior year of high school, students have ample time to prepare and plan for their future.
In short, CPASS is a valuable program for any student considering college and wanting to ensure their success. CPASS empowers students to achieve their goals and reach their full potential by providing mentorship, resources, and a sense of community.
CPASS is already filled for the 2023-2024 year. However, the application is available for students to join the waitlist. Apply for the waitlist here.
