EEF End Gun Violence Oratory Cash Prize Competition

GAINESVILLE, FL. (EEF News) The Education Equalizer Foundation will host a community project this summer centered around the impact of gun violence. This event is promoted by the City of Gainesville and is in collaboration with other organizations nationwide. It will be hosted at Greater Bethel AME Church. We are interested in partnering with you to make the project successful. In addition to guests attending to support our competitors, we are also interested in mental health professionals, orators, writing coaches, and a three-person committee to serve as judges for our competitors. Please take the time to learn about the program below.

Proposed Program

The Education Equalizer Foundation works with middle through high school students and their families to demystify the college admittance process and provide scholars with the necessary tools to graduate.

The oratorical competition will engage youth aged 14 to 18 to address how attending college can prevent youth gun violence in the community. We plan to engage mental health professionals to guide the orators alongside a committee of other individuals in researching and writing their speeches, poems, and spoken word, which must produce actionable steps for audience members to take to combat gun violence. The competition will be hosted at Greater Bethel AME Church, and guests are encouraged to attend in person or watch the Facebook live stream.

The first, second, and third-place winners will receive cash prizes for education-related expenses such as school uniforms, tutoring aftercare activities, etc. The first-place winner will receive $300.00, the second-place winner will receive $200.00, and the third-place winner will receive $100.00.
