As we approach Juneteenth, a day of profound historical significance, it is an opportune time to reflect on the journey and the enduring spirit of resilience and freedom. Juneteenth is not only a celebration of emancipation but also a reminder of the journey towards equality and the importance of education in achieving it.

The U.S. Department of Education has selected the Education Equalizer Foundation (EEF) to receive funds to increase FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion rates among high school students. This prestigious recognition is part of the Department’s next phase in its FAFSA support strategy, designed to ensure more students gain access to financial aid for higher education.

Dr. Carjie Scott, CEO and Founder of The Education Equalizer Foundation (EEF), and LaRaven Temoney-Louis, EEF Program Manager, recently attended the 2024 Talent Strong Florida Summit hosted by the Florida College Access Network (FCAN). The summit, themed “Access for All,” united leaders to promote equitable access to postsecondary education across Florida.

The journey for the Education Equalizer Foundation (EEF) scholars is far from over as they continue to amass impressive scholarships, setting a bright path for their futures. Among the standout recipients are A’marion Cason (AJ), Che’ Reed, Kristin Cooper, Caleb Little-Thomas, and Da’Mar Wims, each earning significant scholarships to support their academic endeavors.

The million-dollar scholar brunch celebrated the foundation’s latest cohort, who collectively earned over $1.4 million in scholarships. The students’ impressive accomplishments are a testament to the countless hours they dedicated to applying for multiple colleges and scholarships.

The Education Equalizer Foundation and the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Alachua County Alumni Chapter partnered again for FAMU Preview Day. The event was a remarkable success that enabled students and parents to experience FAMU, enjoy lunch with current FAMU students, and meet with admissions counselors to begin applying to the nation’s #1 Public HBCU!

The Jack and Jill of America Pensacola Chapter partnered with The Education Equalizer Foundation to offer middle—to high-school students a college empowerment tour. The journey allowed the students to visit Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Florida State University, and The University of Florida.

Dr. Kerwin Scott, Vice Chairman of The Education Equalizer Foundation, delivered an impactful keynote address to the University of Florida Pre-Dental organization, leaving an indelible mark on over 90 eager attendees. “It is with much appreciation that we thank Dr. Scott for his incredible presentation and for showing us our paths to dental school,” remarked one attendee, reflecting the sentiment shared by all.

Juan Osorio, a dedicated freshman from the University of Florida, joins Education Equalizer (EEF) with a profound understanding of the challenges faced by first-generation college students. He shares, “My name is Juan Osorio, and I am a freshman at the University of Florida! I decided to intern for EEF because, as a first-generation college student, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate the college admission process or even transition into college courses without your parents’ help.”

In a transformative event hosted by the Mu Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Dr. Carjie Scott, Founder of The Education Equalizer Foundation, delivered a compelling talk on college preparedness to 16 youth participants in the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI). The event, held at the Library Headquarters in Gainesville, FL, focused on empowering students aged 11 to 14 for their academic and professional journeys.
